Afrocentric Dance Parties

YANGA Afrocentric Fashion Show

With an emphasis on intercultural relationality, we host celebration style dance events to showcase Afro-Carib culture by inviting folks out onto the dancefloor.

Healing Ourselves, Healing the Land

This project has centred the vision of cultivating  reciprocal relationships between Afro-Indigenous Community through land-based learning in K-12 settings. Together with PAPAKEN HAUTW, we will facilitate opportunities for Black and POC youth to engage in land restoration with WSANEC youth. This is a true way of ensuring a diverse and inclusive land stewardship model exists as we work towards the universally shared goal of planetary health.

We are launching a Vancouver Island based flying squad that centres the experiences of African Descent youth with an emphasis on intercultural and diverse community building.

Arts, Culture & Learning Hub for Afro-Diasporic Community

We have a vision for a physical membership based collective space for our Arts, Culture & Learning hub in the Greater Victoria Region. This will be a space to gather, share art, sell goods, homebase for our Flying Squad chapter and other multipurpose usages.

Festival of Color

BC Afro-Indigenous Solidarity Fest 2024

We plan to host the first AFro-Indigenous Solidarity Fest that celebrates the cultures of both communities and in the spirit of reciprocity and reconcili-action with a strong emphasis on forging coalitions that care for and nurtue the thriving of both communties.

All Hands In

Afro-Indigenous Abolitionist Community of Care Network

This network will be stewarded by local members of WSANEC, Songhees and Afroc-diasaporic communites to support emergency relief, youth support and food sovereignty from an understanding of the complex and shared struggles experienced at the hands of Anti-Black and Anti-Indigenous Racism in the Victoria/Vancouver Island Region.
